MY STORY

About me

Life’s short.
Live purposefully.

As a child, Ricky loved coloring and sketching superheroes from the cartoons he watched and the comics he read. One vivid memory stands out: at just five years old, he watched his father sitting at the dinner table, sketching patterns for his shoe business. Ricky eagerly asked, “Dad, can you draw Peter Pan?” His father paused, drew the character, and something clicked. From that moment, Ricky’s artistic curiosity began to blossom, nudging him toward a lifelong path as a creative. By high school, Ricky found himself torn between two futures: becoming an accountant or pursuing graphic design. One day, while sitting in an accounting class learning how to do payroll, he had a defining moment. In the middle of class, he raised his hand, asked to be excused, walked out, and took a bus straight to Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Jamaica to enroll in the School of Visual Arts. That bold decision marked the beginning of his professional creative journey.

While studying graphic design, Ricky—like many emerging creatives—was nervous about what the future might hold. But instead of waiting for the “perfect moment,” he took a leap of faith. Alongside two friends, he launched his first business project while still in college. That venture not only helped him find his footing as an entrepreneur, it also paid for his first year of tuition and laid the foundation for a life in business and design.

His life has been a trial an error, failure and success. Ricky’s journey as a seasoned entrepreneur and marketing expert shines through his life, being the founder of two companies D’Edge Media and CoachMe Rick®. Drawing from his extensive experiences, he distills complex marketing concepts into practical strategies that can be implemented by start-ups and established businesses alike.

The first step is the most important. It is the most crucial and the most effective as it will initiate the a direction you have chosen.
